5th 24 Aug 2024, An Unforgettable Day

After an extreme or mass exodus of Rohingya Muslims by the Burmese Government in 2017, renewed armed conflict between Arakan Army AA and the Burmese Military Junta converted the Arakan Land into a battle. Intentionally, the remaining Rohingya Muslims were accused by the AA of supporting the Military Junta that an allegation Rohingya have denied.

With this pretended action, the Arakan Army AA again seized the Arakan Land and introduced the graveyard of Rohingya. 

On 5th Aug 2024, thousands of Rohingya civilians including men, women and children gathered along the border, waiting for the boats to cross the Naf River for Bangladesh in search of safety and protection.

According to the many witnesses, the group came under the attack where they were assembled near the border and more than two hundreds were killed by targeting from different locations.

For the Rohingya Community, this is the most devastating tragedies in recent history. The world must recognize it as second wave of genocide against the Rohingya and ensure to bring justice.

The Dream of Higher Education Rohingya Students

Foyazul Zobbor, a Grade-12 student of Life Destination High School, has expressed his dream of becoming an MBBS doctor and hopes to pursue higher studies at a university.

However, like him, thousands of students in the Rohingya refugee camps in Bangladesh are giving up their dreams after completing camp-level education because they see no opportunities for higher studies.

If the United Nations (UN) is committed to supporting the vulnerable Rohingya community, it obviously can take the initiative to create opportunities for qualified and university-level education, helping to build a better future.

The more education is denied, the less human rights are ensured under international law. Ignoring education means ignoring justice for Rohingya survivors.

After facing unbearable challenges, Rohingya students continue to create their own learning platform through the Examination Board of Rohingya Refugees (EBRR) while holding onto the hope that better educational opportunities will one day become available.

4th January, Independence Day of Myanmar

Today marks the 78th Independence Day of Myanmar, observed on 4 January. On this historic day, it is important to remember that Rohingya Muslims stood alongside the Myanmar government during the struggle for independence. Despite this contribution, the Rohingya people have been unjustly denied their full rights and expelled from their ancestral land.


To demand the restoration of full citizenship and fundamental rights, this event has been organized by the United Council of Rohingya (UCR).
